I am planning a camping trip to Innes National Park on the
Adelaide Cup Long Weekend and have heard there is a kangaroo tick investation in the park. Has anyone camped there lately and have you had any issues with ticks.
I have three
young kids under 4 and don't really want to be pulling ticks off them for the entire trip. I am not sure they will ever forget dad removing bugs that suck their blood and bury their heads into their skin. The Innes National Park brochure also mentions them.
We have visited the parked and stayed at the Marion Bay Caravan Park and have not had any issues, but we want to get away from the caravan park thing.
Thanks in advance for your
feedback.

Alex,
Many years ago in the
Kimberley I got covered in roo ticks. They do work their way everywhere !
I got put onto using a weak solution of the tick and flea wash that is sold for dogs. Sponge it over your body, not face, and it seems to deter the little blighters from taking up residence. I also used to drench my socks in it and then let them dry before wearing. Do the same for the legs of your trousers. Makes you smell a bit like a moth ball but worked for me.
On your kids I would just do the lower clothing. Dab a little on the inside of their arm and makes sure they don't get a reaction first. Few do but it can be itchy.
I am only suggesting this if things are bad.
cheers
