I've just been to the TVan manufactuer's web site having seen Russell Coight flog the Topaz on tellie last night-at least I think it was Russell - it sounded like Russell!
I've navigated round and round the site and found a page where I can fill out a form - much like a Centrelink or ATO 'form' - that asks me for personal
information in order to receive a 'brochure' - no - my name's not Bucket!
I don't even know if, after providing so many personal details, that brochure will give me with the most important thing...............a PRICE!
Why be sooooooooo shy about providing a price?? Even if it is only 'indicative' because of variouis options/models, surely most people are sophisticated enough to be able handle that and judge whether or not they should go any further with enquiries.
Is it just me??
[PS: I am 66 and grumpy - I just want to know the PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!]

Hi George,
I agree, I dont like how some businesses dont advertise the price or have price on application.
I do believe the Tvan is dear but
well and truly worth every cent.
I guess the businesses do it as some people buy on price, Its why the rubbish CT's coming out of China still get bought.
I also know that its a sales trick to get the person calling and once you have them on the phone use all the usual sales techniques to get them to buy.
Cheers Wilko

hi wilko
your spot on imho and it stops their oposition from undercutting an already qouted figure with a better option /price
once they get you on the phone they apply the blurb treatment to persuade those that havent decided yet
cheers

The Americans do it right!! Almost all prices are posted on their sites on most all items.. Here in oz, you still need to ring them after they show you a
pic of the item with almost no information... Michael

Plumbers & electricians etc don't advertise their hourly rate, what's the difference?
I don't understand why people are too nervous to ring & ask for a price.

Hi Shaker,
I don't mind asking for a price but someone like my dear old Ma wont call and ask for one cause she is a soft touch(in a nice way lol) and has trouble being rude if you get a pushy hard sell salesman (I on the other hand don't mind telling em to get bleep ed though).
A plumber in peakhill has his hourly rate advertised on his truck $40/hour flat rate and he gets a lot of work cause of it.
I think its rude and will tend to say bleep em and go else where Why waste my time, do they want my business?
Cheers Wilko

Shaker!! If prices are available online, a lot of homework and comparison can be done without ringing and tying uptheir staff, I thought it would be in the sellers best interest. Its a bit like someone selling a new set of tyres in the Trading post, Would you ring them to ask the price? I wouldnt, i would keep looking at the prices on the other sellers. To me, thats going back to the bad old days!! It doesnt make sense! regards Michael

Maybe Track Trailer work on the theory that if you have to ask you can't afford one!
I just bought a new Vista RV even though I had to ring & ask the price.

On a side note:
$40/hr for a plumber??? No wonder he gets a lot of work!

Perhaps this is a little off topic, but I can vouch for the Tracktrailer as a company. I certainly cannot afford one of their Tvans at the moment, but I do have one of their older campers, a soft floor Desert Eagle.
I have had several dealings with the company in relation to modifications, repairs and question about a trailer that they built in 1997 and have had the best customer service that I could expect without having bought it from them new. They are prepared to spend time on the phone assisting and never once have I felt 'rushed' or that I was bothering them with time-wasting questions.
I have no doubt that I will, in the future, purchase either a Tvan or one of their hybrid caravans when I have less 'kid-committment' on my hard-earned $$
No affiliations etc...just a satisfied customer.
Cheers,
Mark
Ps I think their new Tvans run out at about $40k depending upon options etc...

Track Desert Eagle would have to be one of the best soft floor campers ever built!

Thanks Shaker,
PRetty happy with it. It's robust, basic but great design with lots of useable storage and from what I've seen of the market, I could probably sell it for more than I paid for it at the moment...
The MC2
suspension is absolutely amazing IMHO. Even on the worst corrugations the thing hardly moves at all....very stable.
Cheers,
Mark

Mark, we did thousands of Outback kms with a Track Desert Eagle with 2 china mugs in the locker, & only sustained one small chip in one of them.
We now have a Vista RV Crossover that has very similar
suspension. We had always aspired to a Tvan, but the Vista just suited us a little better.
