I am thinking of buying a second hand original oztent. It is the older style tent (greeen + yellow in colouur) and I am wondering if the front and side panels to suit that tent are still available (as I understand they are velcro, and the new ones are zip on?) If they are available, any suggestions on where to get them?

Also wondering how long the new or old style oztent takes to put up including the awning, front and side panels.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Have you called Oztent to ask them?

Yes, i've emailed them - they haven't replied yet.
I would be also interested in buying second hand if i can't get it anywhere else.
Thanks

Oztent said the new panels wouldn't fit the old tent - is it a different mouting system?
Anyone know of any second hand panels for the old oztent that are for sale?

Thanks again

Next option might be to approach them (Oztent) and see if they can let you have a pattern that you can have made up elsewhere. Alternatively someone with that model tent may be able to assist you.

I hate to see an unhappy Oztent user. : )

We have an older one - great tent only have one side and find that to be enough - just takes an extra 2-3 mins, with the extra pegs - depending on the ground.

Spoke to Oztent when we were in Brisbane last year - young guy told us we had the best (the old one) as the canvas is so much better and therefore doesn't need the fly that the new ones do.

So suggest you buy - have fun

Thanks for the advice Jack and D&G. Interesting about the fact the older version doesn't need the fly to stop the condensation.
The older version seems like a better idea, and I will see if I can get a two metre mesh wall and try and velcro it to the poles and tent.

Thanks again for all the advice and info.

Not true. The older canvas gets as wet as buggery in the right conditions. We used a chamois in the morning to dry it out.
Great tent though.

Must disagree Paul - we used ours for 4½ months last year and had some torrential rain at Byron Bay and up in the Daintree - we had reproofed it though.

We also bought the Oztent pod for carrying the tent up on the roof - great addition
