Can anyone tell me the differance between Mono crystalin and polycrstalin solar panels and which would be best suited to 4x4 application

One could answer that with 'what make is better suited to 4x4, Toyota or Nissan'.

Seriously, I do not think there is a 'best suited' answer to your solar panel question - I use an amorphous panel mainly due their shade tolerance.
perhaps reading up a bit on panel technology (google) would save a few one finger typists here getting sore fingers.

As I understand it, Monocrystalline have laboratory performance of 23%, Polycrystalline has 18% efficiency and Amorphous has 12% - lab results are however, not out back results Most panels these days seem to be Mono

I have a 140 watt mono mounted flat on my Jeeps roofrack - It powers a Waeco cf50 through a 100 aH AGM and MPPT solar regulator .. Never had a problem yet .
Poly panels have a slightly larger frame size and area compared to mono but they are both susceptible to any amount of shade ..
