We have a trip to SE Queensland planed for mid May.
SA. to
Broken Hill,
Wilcannia, Burke,
Walgett, Lightin Ridge, St. George, Gympie,
Tewantin.
My questions are. Will we be in the way of the rebuilding? Will they the people effected by the floods be better off us not coming through there way? Or do we still come and spend our money? The last thing we want to be is a hindrance. Brian.

It should be noted that not ALL of the area was physically affected. The community, whilst affected emotionally in some areas, as a whole has moved on and requires a return to normality. It is a large State/Area and as such you may not see much affects if travelling through at that time.
Come on up and enjoy our State :)

Travelling from
Lightning Ridge to
St George may take a bit longer than normal due to damage to roads.
But yes come and spend a $$ or 2 as the tourism industry will need all the help they can get.
Cheers Kev

Hi Brian
It will again all come down to the weather, but providing they do not get any more damaging rain, go for it. These communities need your tourist dollar, weather it be food, a cup of coffee, fuel or accommodation.
Have a great trip.
Cheers
Stephen

Cmon up,
We need the money to fix the roads :)
By May a lot of the effected public
infrastructure will be fixed, peoples houses will take longer due to numbers.
The Gold and Sunshine coasts, Fraser Is, Morton Is, Stradbroke Is are basically uneffected and they would love the tourists to come on in.
Enjoy your trip.

Tourist $$ is needed in all those
places. Currently when I need something I look for business that have been effected by flood as my way of donation to help to keep them going. La nina is expected to last for a couple of months yet so anything can happen. I have found the following web sites useful. Explore oz of course,
Road Conditions,
Sample of weather zone forum

Hi Brian
I live in
Tewantin, a lot of the tourist businesses are doing it tough due to people thinking the whole of Qld. is under water and cancelling their trips. The sunshine coast hasn't been affected at all. Parts of Gympie were flooded though.
About the time you're coming here, I'm planning a trip to SA. So you spend a few dollars here and I'll spend a few in your neck of the woods.
Jon
