Travelling home yeseterday, stopped & fuelled up. Got going again & about half a K down the road, the engine warning light comes on. Checking the owner's manual, it basically says it's for emission control & auto trans. It's a manual & everyything seems to be OK. We're 160Ks from home, so I keep going. The car ran as good as it usually does, but the light's still on. It's a 2007 V6 Triton. Has anybody come across this before? Cheers.......

Try www.triton.net if you haven't already done so.

Not sure about the petrol engines, but it's not uncommon for the exhaust gas return (EGR) to get clogged on the diesels and cause this. Plenty of discussion on www.newtriton.net about it.

Yep my petrol Jack done this. Took some finding as it was the last thing the Mechanic checked. Scan gauge keep saying it was the mAF.

If the engine check light remains on then you either have a hard fault (problems is still occurring) or an emissions fault (fault may have only occurred intermittently but light remains on).
It will need to be connected to a scan tool to extract the fault code/s. Shouldn't cost too much to have codes extracted.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I took it to the local bloke who plugged his analyser into it. Turns out the fault was a few "speed sensor fault"s. A quick check underneath found the plug for the speedo on the gearbox had lost ots little wire clip and was half off. The speedo was working OK, but may have been getting an intermittent break in the signal. Nowhere near as scarey as I thought it was going to be when the light first appeared in the middle of nowhere yesterday! Cheers.....
