...as i said i have a waeco upright fridge freezer that is 12 volts and is meant to run on a Mobitronics rectifier(via a cig lighter type plug/socket). I have in the past been able to run a small 240v fridge on a GMC 750w 2 stroke generator as well as my lights............. i found out on recent trip that the waeco doesnt like the so called instability of the 2 stroke gen, but my normal 2 stage battery charger across a battery was holding the fridge quite ok without any over heating of the charger or apparent damage to the fridge( had to do this as was enjoying camping too much to come home)...........just after advice now as whether possible to just straight replace Mobitronics Power Supply with perhaps a smart charger on permanent basis( no other inputs to my power supply).or any other possible solutions????.........PLEASE HELP! ...2 stroke gen is noisy but still in good condition........

Hi kevmac, Just a little tip using the GMC genny, I run a 100W globe of it continuously, this tends to stabilise its RPM. Mine gets used to run the lights & fridge at home during power outages. Seems to hapen alot these days.

We tried a Mobitronic with our caravan fridge, and when on 12 volt there was a power drop through the Mobi, so we disconnected it and put it back direct to the battery and end of problem. By all means run it from your battery on 12 v and keep the battery charged via the genny and battery charger if that is what you mean. Is the genny suitable for your battery charger?

just got home from a trip where only way could run the fridge was to run the charger from the genny whilst floating a battery ( trouble was the battery was an old one and didnt hold enuf or didnt get enuf whilst running genny) have ordered brand new 120a/h deep cycle and hoping that is the worst expense for a while til we start travelling a lot more..............

New battery will help by the sound of it. No problem running the fridge whilst charging the battery though, so long as the power levle is aedquate. We used to run a caravan fridge from a 100 a/h deep cycle and a portable 80 w solar panel (with a controller). So easy and no noise.
