Hello all,

I have been offered a 1999 troopy with the coil front suspension by a work collegue for around 12-13k.

The vehilce has done 300,000km and has only had two owners from new, the last owner has had it since it was 2 years old with 70,000km on it.

It is not an ex mine or hire vehicle.

I have test driven it and all things that need to work, work and it drives quite well.

It has the 1hz motor, 3 seats, uhf, bull bar, towbar, 100 series GXL rims, A/c and service history.

What would you pay for it and what should I look for?

It is being sold with rego and RWC.

Yeah, looked at that, but i don't really beleive the redbook site as I have been to auctions in the past and have seen vehicles sell for more than the private price listed.

Unfortunately there is not a great deal of this type of vehicle on the market advertised to compare

I sold my 99 HZJ78 about 3 years ago with 137km on the clock for 18k.
You have the service history and as long as it doesn't have any stress fractures around the windscreen or front door pillars then it will probably be ok. Just remember that they had weak gearboxes until 2004, so a turbo later will cause probs.

The gear box would be my only concern, just check that it all works and sounds fine as a rebuild will cost a few grand.
