Uploading photos is the definition of 'frustrating'.

I have been trying for an hour to upload photos of a family of Curlews nesting on the edge of the street where we are staying in Cairns.

I can get into the 'insert image', but it tells me I must have 'upload files'.

I have been trying to upload from my picture folder but it doesn't work.

What step or steps am I missing?

Hi BooBoo - do you mean onto a thread here? Have you downsized them (max 800 pixels)? System will ignore big photos. Test photo went on instantly.

Motherhen

You have a viald point .......
but that dosent really matter, as theExplorOz down sizes them anyway.

If you have a bad or a slow internet connection, that will likely be the main problem.

Time of day, and the amount of people on the forum, will also have an effect on uploading Foto's

Cheers
Bucky

Host them on photobucket and then link to them from there. I.e. when you go to insert image you use the address of the photo from photobucket under web hosted photo.

Resize them with something like Irfan View to a small JPG and then click on INSERT IMAGE
Click on browse and go to the folder that your pic is in.
Click on the one you want and then click upload and wait as it takes a few moments

An easy way to resize pictures without getting a special program to do it is use Windows.

Select all the pictures you wish to resize and just use the option to email them.

Outlook will come up with a dialog box to resize your pictures for email - It you choose Medium size that gets them to somewhere around 120kb and a good size to upload.

It will then put them in as an attachment to email -

You then go to File and Save Attachment Option and save the resized pictures, you can now upload these a lot easier.

After you have saved the attachments just delete the email draft :-)

No special program required if you do it this way

Cheers Tony

If you have MS Suit you can use "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"
Picture>Compress Pictures

I second Tony's way. I email them to myself and then save them to a folder called "Resized photos" under Pictures. I'm using Windows Vista and I keep them in that folder cause sometimes you need them again in the future. Regards, Bob

Use Imageshack, that site has resizing options without having to fart around doing it yourself.

I've talked to my son and he's reminded me(seniors moments I have them too often) that he set up a picasa for me to upload the photos (years ago) so that I could share them as well as having an online backup.

Below is a link to the photos of the curlews that have nested on the side of the street.

Have a close look at the bird on the gravel and you will also see the baby lying flat out just in front.

I hope this works!!!
