Hi All,
I'm looking at the Polycraft 4.8mt cuddy cab and would like to know others opinions of them. Also whether a 60 hp is a big enough motor.
Cheers Wilko

A mate has a smaller poly and loves it. I think you néed to keep them out of the sun for longevity, also I think they are reasonably heavy so maybe need more than a 60 for a 4.8

I did my skippers ticket training in one, a couple of years ago, the instructor said they were a tough stable boat but very heavy for there size.
Would err on a larger motor due to the weight.

I had a 4.5 polycraft centre console with a 50 h.p honda for about 600 engine hours.
IMHO it fought
well above it's weight, often fishing 20
miles the other side of cape Moreton, offshore from Fraser and D.I. as
well.
They are u.v. stabilised and will last forever. You simply cannot hurt them with impact.
They will however scratch and abrade on rocks and sand, but nothing that is of structural concern.
They 4.8 with a 60 will be respectable enough but won't be any rocketship. I'm thinking sub 30 kts at WOT. The polys do like a bit of power.
Of major importance is the trailer - it MUST be on a poly approved trailer (two long skids alongside the keel).
Buy one with confidence - they're a great hull - I miss
mine.
Just be prepared for the jokes/jibes like "don't leave it parked on the road on recycle day....."
Any other q's just fire away.

I have a 4.5 with a 50 4 stroke. It needs a bit more - mainly to get out of the hole. Top speed is 48kph. I would go more than 60 with the 4.8.
