Hi Folks
I've just bought an oldish but unused Codan 8525 radio and need to get it reprogrammed. Anyone know where to go? I live in Winmalee (near Springwood) lower Blue Mountains NSW. Also I will be joining / subscribing to one of the HF groups prior to my next lap leaving in early May. Any advice appreciated. Thanks TJ

Hi TJ
They are a great radio and I have had one since new, around 18 years now. Make sure that you have the VKS Network frequencies fitted, they are a must and the best network to join. Give Steve a call at head office and will be able to point you in the right direction over in NSW.

There is a guy that I use that sells on ebay from time to time. His ebay user id is noelr29. He will send you an eprom to suit your radio, but you will have to tell him if your radio is an "A" or a "B" version of the 8525 as the eproms are different.
The "A" or "B" can be found as the prefix of the serial No.
The eprom is a simple plug and play, and instructions come with the eprom to tell you how to swap them out. Cost is roughly $50.00
BTW, all the 8525's that I have, will quite happily run a 9350 autotune antenna.
Usual disclaimers apply, just a very happy repeat customer.

Everyone has their own opinion but from personal experience I think the most social and friendly club is the
HF Radio Club, VKE237. Cheaper fees and a huge range of extra facilities like texting and telephone interconnect, worth checking out before you commit,TJ, they'll also install your frequencies free.

If you can remove the chip yourself so you don't have to send the whole set I can highly recommend Dave Collins:

Another vote for Dave, but if you remove the eprom, make sure that you remember which way it goes when you go to put the new one in....

Just out of interest, can you tell us what you paid for it? And was it a selcal model? I am in the process of selling one myself and have no idea what the value of them is now.
