Be aware that there are two radically different quality levels in the video coming out of portable or vehicle video-0recording cameras.

A - Standard video resolution - VGA or 640x480 or Analogue resolution.

B - HD or High Definition - at least 720.

I'm glad I decided to wait for HD to become affordable before buying a traffic recording camera - I can only just read the number plates of a car when it's directly in front of me - a standard resolution recording is useless for identification of people or cars.

Now that HD is readily available, standard-resolution cameras SHOULD be cheaper, but vendors are taking advantage of buyer ignorance.

If you want a vehicle camera, it's essential to get one that starts automatically with the Ignition coming on, and goes off automatically - other wise the first time you need a recording, you'll find you've forgotten to switch teh camera on !
