Pilbara Jade

WA forumites.
Is there anybody out there that knows where to find large lumps of jade in the Pilbara area. My wife is looking to use jade for a sculpture exhibition. Pieces the size of a football would be best. Any ideas? Eric

Hi Eric,

There is a Jade mine approx 10km South east of Roebourne.
There has been a bit of rain lately so access would be a problem.
I don't know if "Stonerage" located in the Roebourne-Samson Rd is still operating. The owners were a good source of knowledge.

I did not see any large pieces when I was there @ 12 years ago just slivers lying around.

Marble Bar.
The "Bar" is a massive reef of Jade as I recall
Don't think you can just steal it though.....

There are other large deposits on Yorks Peninsula, SA, from memory.

You might be thinking of Cowell on Eyre Peninsula which has Australia's only commercial Jade mine.
