Predictions are that tropical cyclone yasi will come far enough inland to end up over central australia by Satuday.

Really would like to see rain on Uluru. Missed it by one day in 2009. ("You should have been here yesterday"!) All we got for 4 days was cloud cover.

If you are talking about the Christmas cyclone in 2009, you must have been one day behind us.
We got the CT blown around a bit in the storm, and had to pack it up late at night in the "eye", than sleep in the car for the rest of the night.
Spectacular views of the rock with torrentail rain falling all over it.
Some of the shopkeepers said it wasn't an extremely rare event.
Didn't make the roads impassable the following day, so all was good.

Nah, it was in June 09. I believe it is a fairly regular event but you just have to be lucky to catch it. Ah well, one day.........

Saw rain on the Rock in 1974 :-)
(And took 7 FULL days to get back to Port Augusta...........)
