Hi all
Probably taking a couple of weeks off to travel along the south coast next month. It's 30 odd years since I travelled the Boxwood
Hill Borden road and in those days it was mostly gravel. Can anyone tell me if it's now bitumen.
Many thanks
John

Hi
John
We watched the bitumen lengthen during the few years we travelled on it every weekend to and from our
farm near Boxwood. It is an enjoyable drive, but watch out for kangaroos near dusk.

Geez
John, your post brought back some memories. The first (and last...lol) time I drove that road from Borden to
Bremer Bay was back in the late '70,s.
I was going from
Perth to Bremer to fix a broken down truck. I was driving a Holden panel van and saw this road on the map as a shorter route.
Middle of winter, raining like hell and freezing, cut a corner too close and wound up against a bank in a puddle of water and mud. Walked about 2
miles in the pouring rain to the nearest
farm house for help and managed to get the kind hearted farmer to tow me out. I can just imagine what sort of goose he must have thought I was.
Cheers Pop

Hi Pop
Yes I used to travel that road and others around Borden/
Gnowangerup quite regularly during the late 70's and early 80's. Many times I've had the vehicle just slide gracefully into the bank or ditch. Even did it once travelling at less than 20kph.
