I reckon Lake Eyre might be flooded for the next 100 years.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Has anyone heard updated track conditions out there? We are planning to be at Lake Eyre mid March via Coober Pedy/Willaim Creek then heading up the track to Birdsville...

The Oodna track is closed, many Flinders Ranges roads are closed.Check the Transport SA website for up to date conditions. The roads report on this site is out of date.

Hi All,
Thanks for the info you are providing. Road Conditions for the area updated. I did put a flood warning out on Friday the 4th for Road closures expected in Eastern Areas of SA but have not been able to update till now.

Remember, anybody can leave live feedback on the Exploroz Road conditions reports.
If you are looking at the ExplorOz Road reports don't forget to "toggle all" when you find the Section/Road/Name you are looking for.
That way you can see any travelers live feedback that has added or better still if you have info about road conditions for the area please add yours.

How many of you have seen this. (Sat images, comments and Road condition history)

Also the reports are designed to be updated live in the field by people on the ground at any location via their own internet connection, laptop, smartphone or internet capable sat phone. Negating the need to send info to 3rd parties. So has the potential to be more accurate for remote areas than any other source, we just need to do a bit more education and get local authorities businesses and interested parties to participate.

Now from what I have found out so far.
Most of the Rain has gone west and south of Lake Eyre so Lake Eyre South may receive a lot of water - also Lake Frome has had a lot of rain in the vicinity there are some suggestions of a major flood/filling there too.

There has been very heavy continuous rain in areas where there are no BOM weather stations so will be interesting to hear reports as they come in.
There will be large volumes of water moving around out there. Be careful.

hope this helps

Thanks Doug, before coming on this site tonight I checked the bom site and I swear it still has an eye looking at the current aerial photo. So I am not mad.
Unbelievable.
Cheers Pete

We're waiting here to see how far west it comes!!

Hoping our chiller/freezer truck makes it through before we get any rain.

Most of the predictions have it just hitting us before veering south

(we are about 95km west of Surveyor Generals Corner)

It is Norm
Sunny downtown Blackstone
but not today

looks like full cloud cover today
Strong winds overnight but seem to have died down this morning

Biggest shock to the system though is the temperature
yesterday was 43deg and now at 8:45am it is 17deg (usually around high 30's)

where's my jumper!
time to mow the lawn

Hi Ruth,

Dave is stuck at New Crown with the truck & our fresh supplies!

Luckily we've got plenty of grog & frozen stuff.

The last time I looked the water was 1/4 of the way up the levy bank & rising, time to start moving stuff to a higher level.

We'll start growing fins if this keeps up, 370mm of rain last year & we've already had over 120mm this month!
