Hi there,
very confused and getting lots of advice from tyre sellers.
we have a suzuki vitara with Bridgestone HT and have seen on TV that these 2 ply walls should be upgraded when towing a caravan due to the extra weight and pressure (therefore risk of blowouts etc). We are towing our van on a 3 month holiday so want to get it right. Probably not doing too much off road/4WDing due to a pregnant wife but want to minimise risk.
Has anyone any thoughts, recommendations, advice they can offer?
thanks in advance

I towed a van all round Aus for 12 months on em, not too much tough 4 WD work.
As long as you aren't overloading them they should be fine, just don't expect them to tackle the rough stuff as they
puncture easily.

There's plies, ply's and damned ply-lies, but the general thrust of the advice you've seen has merit it seems - if you talk to your chosen tyre dealer, they will probably
home in on the load ratings (that and the speed limits etc. are moulded into the tyre wall) - you might be able to get a higher rated tyre in your car's specified tyre options) - a tyre that can carry more, faster, would be more robust in general terms. You can pick out some good info at site's such as
this.
