Hi,
I have a 1990 80 series Standard, and the passenger side 3/4 bench
seat is not the most comfortable thing for touring.
Does anybody know if I can remove
the bench seat, and replace it with any old 80 series bucket
seat?
There appears to be another mount under the 3/4 bench
seat.... Just wondering if anyone has done the same?
Cheers

I have a new 70 series V8 GX with the same 3/4 bench
seat. A mate has the GXL which has 2 bucket seats. He has kids and wanted a 3/4 bench
seat so we decided to swap as it has the same tie down spots. He checked with his insurance company and they told him he needed an engineer’s cert to make the change and has decided not to go ahead. So I'm still looking for a bucket
seat.

as has been mentioned already, compliance isn't all that expensive to get done. i removed my drivers
seat and the passenger 3/4
seat from my 105 series cruiser and replaced them with SAAS seats on bases i made myself. i got it engineered for $80 also from memory so all is legal, vehicle is now a 5 seater instead of a 6 seater.
once you get your vehicle plated, i needed to take it and some paperwork down to Qld Transport (Govt. Dept here in Qld) and have them look at the compliance plate and all was done. Qld transport didn't cost anything, all they do is abit of paperwork and off you go.

I have a standard 100 series. I bought a GXL
seat from the wreckers - same upholstery, exact match. It fitted straight in, the wiring for the
seat belt warning light needed a different connector but that was the only change. Compliance cost about $80 from memory. I have the blue metal tag so all is legal.

Good to know that. I will forward this post to my mate, he may still do the swap.
