Hoping that someone may be able to assist....

We're currently in WA and will be travelling to Esperance, Albany, then all up the west coast.

We have an awning on the van, and have come away with just a side wall of our canvas annexe (by choice) but are thinking that we would like to have a custom made shade cloth annexe wall made for the length of the awning given many of the warm areas we will visit. We have seen them on vans in our travels but haven't made any enquiries.

Can anyone recommend a suitable place in WA that we could call into on our travels that could make one for us, also, for people that have these already, is there anything particular we should be looking for when purchasing?

Your help is most appreciated.

You can buy ready made ones at most caravan places or Camec in Welshpool in Perth About $250 for side wall

Camerons Caravans in Albany can probably help.

Didnt see any places in Esperance that would help.

We had an end wall and a side wall made in Geraldton but wouldnt recommend them to anyone else.

I went to Bunnings got some black shade cloth in a pack for 30 bucks some 4mm rope I think it was and the wife to stitch the rope in the top of the shade cloth.

Also Found some tarp clamps with elastic on the bottom to attach the bottom of the shade cloth to some pegs to hold it out from the awning all up about 39 bucks.

Very happy with it and it looks good.

Cheers.

Oh yeah one slight mod I have made since was to spray where the shade cloth goes in to the awning with silicone spray 7 bucks from Kmart. So much quicker to set up now.

Cheers.

Hi ya,

I really like your thinking, however now that we're on the road, it's a bit difficult without a sewing machine. However, I do understand that it would be much cheaper than getting someone else to make it for me. Thank you.

Crumps Canvas in Albany are one of the best.
I've used them to do a custom job and was very pleased with the finished job.
Price was reasonable too.

Their Contact Number is 08 9841 3866 and their works are at 23-25 Locke St in Albany (more or less behind Bunnings.

Hope this helps.

Hi Disco Driver,

I thought you would be keen to know that we arrived in Albany and took a visit to Crumps Canvas.

We are so grateful for the referral - we saw them on Wednesday and our new shade was ready on Thursday!

They've done a fantastic job....to cut a long story short, they have created a long wall for our awning in shade cloth, cut it down the middle and installed zips so we can use either half or the whole thing - and then the far end also has a zip so it can be used with our original annexe wall (if we want to use it as a wind break).

The quality is fantastic, and to top things off we can even use one of the halves on the other side of the van on the track already there to help keep the sun off the fridge/freezer - it's turned out very multifunctional.

Thanks again for the referral, it was a real winner!

Linda.

I have used this business for some time and will recommend them.
They are an on line store where these shades can be purchased and sent to you via express post if you require it providing they have them in stock.

Awning shade.

Would only take 2 to 3 days express post.

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
