Toyota V8 Diesel Fuel consumption

Same with the safari I have in the 1HDFTE goes better but you tend to use it so fuel stays the same.

Sorry to jump in on your thread John. Steve and Graham, did either of you match the chip with a new three inch exhaust and dump pipe? Was there any fuel remapping involved?

Did the providers dyno and give you a before and after snapshot of the power increase? I’d be interested to know about the actual power increases. Are they noticeable and are you happy with the results?

Did you fit an EGT guage to compliment?

I’m keen to go down that path with the ute in the next couple of months probably with a Taipan exhaust and the Rapid chip.

Taipan was too expensive so I got a Beaudesert and a 3 1/2 in dump pipe

No remapping, Safari chip is supposed to remap fuel on its own

Yes went from 143 to 165 HP Got more from exhaust than chip

Mine is in the dump pipe Too much trouble and money to put it in manifold

Just add 200deg on to get cylinder temp.

Must go back and get it redynoed on their new 4 wheel one as they just took

front d/shaft off and did back wheels.

Exhaust has a resonator in the rear so is hardly noisier than standard.

Car no longer blows black when booting it hard from a standstill. Used to make everything disappear but a lot less now.

I had a taipan 3" exhaust put on my jeep commander crd.
They also tuned the d chip I had on it on a 4wd dyno.
It puts out over 625nm & 195kw. Fuel hasn't changed but it goes like a
rocket & pulls my 3t van easilly.
I would recommend them to anyone.

I had a 3inch Taipan exhaust fitted at the same time and am very happy with it.
I have travelled over 90,000 kms with the chip & exhaust fitted so far.
Yes I did have it on the dyno before and after. The chip & exhaust increased the power from 150 to 178kw.
This has made a big difference when towing (pulls much better now!).
No I haven't had a EGT gauge fitted.

Mine has a DP chip & 3" Beaudesert exhaust. Goes like a rocket. Has done 83,000 km over the past 4 years. Drove from Melbourne to Thargomindah on the tar all the way earlier this week 1500km and averaged 14.8 ltrs/100km. Thats sitting on 110 & 100 km/hr. No load onboard.
How does that compare to the rest of you guys.

My 100 does 10l per 100km solo with a few 50kg of tool in the drawers.

Taken on 3 trips from Coffs to Brisbane and return at speed limit + all the way

Hi Mick. Just done the Beaudesert exhaust thing and a DTronic chip in my 78 series. Very happy with the exhaust and dump pipe. It was well made and fitted up well. The DTronic was a cheap buy at $500 for a 6 month old unit from a guy who was selling due to V8 change over. Fuel economy not tested but appears ok. Torque increase quite good and probably in region of V8. Fitted pyro gauge in EGR on manifold and very happy with the fit into the clock recess in the dash. Will dyno to have fuel better metered to meet my needs(conservative). Happy I have done this at last......took some convincing! Cheers

The 100 wagon has a higher gear ratio than the ute hence the better fuel consumption. Wish I could get those figures out of the ute.

Righty o now i know why a quote was put quietly on the finance ministers kitchen bench. I thought the exhaust was fine. Bloody toys.
