Can anyone recommend a caravan park in Canberra with powered sights suitable for a three week stay in our van in July. From my research some seem to be a bit ordinary.

There's that big joint on the hill with the big Aussie flag. Must have a caravan park as the place is full of gypsies, tramps and thieves.

Few years ago we stayed in Watson - had motel units and caravan park - think it is now called Carotel - convenient location.

We stayed at Canberra Motor village Kunzea St

Was oldish and a bit barren but was OK drive through sites mostly all on a hill.

Was reasonably close to everything and not overpriced..

Cant help with recommendations - being a local we dont use CPs here. But remember to include a good heater and plenty of warm clothes. Canberra is not the most camping or caravanning friendly place in winter - plenty of frost in July.
Cheers,

Val.

Same problem as J and V here. Being a local we also do not use them.

We have recently stayed at the Canberra Showground - EPIC. There is a large caravan park area with powered sites and reasonable amenities for $25 per night. Sites are grassed and spacious, especially the ones below the amenities block. EPIC is easily accessible as you enter Canberra from Barton or Federal Highways.- it is just off Northbourne Rd and quite convenient to the city centre. Buses go past and there are shopping centres nearby. They do not take bookings, you pay at the office by the main entrance then choose your site. The campground is sometimes closed when the space is taken by exhibitors during show times so it is a good idea to ring ahead and check. We have had two pleasant stays there. It is also the only dog friendly park in Canberra. You are right next to a terrific Saturday Farmers' Market and the trotting track for entertainment! Lynne

Hi All. We have stayed here recently as well. Pretty reasonable rates and value for money but it can get busy at times and as said, they don't take bookings. If you decide to stay the "office" is JUST inside the main entrance to the LEFT. The park is well over 1/2 a kilometre into the grounds and we missed the office the first time so had to drive back searching. The park was really full our stay and freezing one night and the next day (oct 2010 ) The Farmers markets on a Saturday morning are not to be missed but get there early. We did even though it was -2 degrees. Cheers,Bob

We are in the Canberra Carotel Motel & Caravan Park at the moment. The sights are a bit rough uder foot but all facilities are here, it is quiet, close to public transport and not far from the main tourist area if you want to drive there. Plenty of camping area as well and a well supplied convenience store.

Hi Paddy,

We are local but was interested to hear people's comments about EPIC (Exhibition Part in Canberra) and suggest it may be a very good option.

Failing that, there is a CV park in Queanbeyan by the river and virtually in the centre of town, just near Riverside Plaza.

You will definitely need a heater, warm bedding and clothing in July.

Enjoy your stay.
