Hi. I wish to wire up a 12v supply for my caravan fridge to run it when travelling. I am running it through a relay. Would anyone know which wire to use for the relay activation. It needs to be fed from the ignition source. I need a color and close position to find it. There doesn't seem to be much under the bonnet as they are all live in the fuse box with the ignition off so I quess under the dash somewhere. Thanks for your help. Bob.

Hi Bob, I believe you only want an ignition voltage source to operate the coil of a relay not to supply the actual fridge current. If so there will be such a wire connecting to your windscreen wiper which should be reasonably accessible. I can'i help you with the colour but you should be able to identify it with a voltmeter or
test lamp. Hope that helps.

I'm with Allan. I also use the wiper motor wiring as an easy source of fused 12V power. There will be 5 wires going in there - from memory it will be the middle blue wire in a row of 3 but I always
check with the multimeter.

Thanks fellas but unfortunately the 120 Prado wiper motor is enclosed in the plenum chamber under the windscreen so is not accessible easily. One of Dereck's links shows the ignition wire under the dash so I will look at that tomorrow. Thanks for your help. Bob

Your Power source in cab link may be the answer. I will have a look tomorrow under my dash. Thanks, Bob

has anyone tried to join the Prado
forum? - best of luck. I've made 5 attempts and still had no joy.
A "welcome" email but 3 weeks later, still awaiting activation
no direct "contact us" or any other means of communication

Steve
It is a great
forum and there are many members. You do need to wait for approval of your application. Contact this email if you have any problems. gxl@pradopoint.com
I see you are not a paid member here, it is
well worth joining as a paid member of ExplorOz.

Thanks for that Derek.
I have that very same email address and still no reply. I have recently bought a Prado and the site would help me familiarise with it. I must've followed procedures correctly for them to send the "welcome" email but that's as far as it has gone. Any other suggestions are welcome.
As for this site, I simply don't visit enough these days to use it.
thanks
Steve

Steve, did your welcome email have an activation link on it? I can't remember what the PradoPoint one had but most forums these days need you to click on the link to activate your account. If you use a generic email like hotmail, you might have to 'authorise content' before clicking on it for it to actually do anything. Another thing you could do is to try to retrieve your password. If it know you it will send out an email. Otherwise... do what Derek suggests.
Nige.
