Doubtless the spec page on the Lightforce site will answer the question.

Hi Rosss

Have you thought about HIDs ?

For the same price as XGT in halogen you can get a set of HIDs, slightly smaller but much brighter.

We can also supply you HID converted 240 Blitz for slightly more than XGT in halogen.

This is out new conversion kit.

Derek
I have a HID upgrade for my XGT's which look very similar to yours, but they have a long thin shadow in the light beam that is really annoying so can there be anything to rectify this.

cheers

Nah all Lightforce conversions will have the shadow v line.

Derek, any reason you went with the old analogue type ballast instead of slimline digital?

Hi Mal

Simply rotate the bulb so the line is to the top.

This occurs with HID bulbs due to the design, it is the return wire from the top of the bulb to the base. Some are better than others but they all have this wire even Lightforce bulbs.

They are the same power output and the same reflector . the XGT are a fixed beam in a solid body. The blitz are adjustable, the downfall of the blitz is the reflector cas easily be unscrewed and stolen. Lightforce are a great option as they currently have a three year warranty and are looking to upgrade to a life warranty. They are also completley Australian owned and manafactured in SA i believe. Any of their lights can be upgraded to hid at any time, kits are available for all of their lights. The non hid lights are pretty good but if you feel the need to upgrade they have hid kits available for all their lights.

Light prices are pretty good too

Have a look at Narva 225 Ultima's, they are very similar to the XGT, but a lot cheaper. They have a better support base on them now, than the origonals. They throw a good light & are available in all combinations including HID.

Hi mate, any reason you are only considering those 2 lights.

You need the best light for your driving comditions and terrain mate.

Dont just go by what everyone says is best.

If you want narrow spots then Lightforce are the best. If you want driving lights that do more then just send a narrow beam down the road then you have many options.

Many things to consider really. I can help you make an unbiased decision as i have used all lights and sold all lights. I know what works and what doesnt.

Cheers

No worries.

Lightforce are definitely the long distance spot kings. In affordable lighting anyway. If you like some spread though then you need to look elsewhere, or be able to fit some more lights.

Some other good performers are the Hella 4000s, IPF900XS and Cibie Super Oscars. The Narva 225 arent too bad either, but not on par with Hellas or IPF900XS. The IPF900XS and Cibie super oscar both have a better spread beam/euro beam then the Hella 4000, but the Hella has a better spot beam.

Hella also make a dedicated wide cornering beam light which is excellent for nearly 180 degrees of light, but it only reaches out as far as 150m or so. Like a fog light but much brighter and further.

I use 2 of these converted to HID as they are unreal for amount of light spread.
But i also have 4 spotlights to back them up.

The Hella 4000 would have to be the pick of the bunch for me, for all round performance. Its euro beam might not be as wide as others but it is still alright. Its not as patchy as others either.

It also depends if you want to go to HID, and the cost and ease of installation.
If you have good headlights though, with good spread then the Lightforce would be perfect. But i would only ever buy the XGTs again. The Blitz shook too much on the dirt. Plus they are easy to pinch the reflector from. They also can also let moisture in if the seals are damaged when fitting HID kit or unscrewing lense. This makes the reflector surface turn black.Mine did this, but were replaced no questions asked. I finally got rid of mine as they annoyed me on dirt roads.

It all depends on budget and the type of driving you do. I now use the Hella 4000 wide beams and 4x Nightstalker 170s for spot. This combination works well for me, but i would love to have 4x Lightforce 170s or Hella 4000 compacts instead. The Hella compacts are unreal also and should never be overlooked.

The best though would be KC Hilites 70w HID pod lights. Those are unreal, but are around the $2k mark. Nothing rivals them.
