I know this has been asked before and the answer depended on what roads were closed etc. I do not know what is open and what is closed at the moment.
I would like to do a Vic High Country with my camping trailer. (My wife hates tent camping)
I would like to spend about 7 days and do the trip in the next few weeks.
I have a 100 Series LC with snorkel, 33 inch muddies and diff locks front and rear.
My camping trailer is an Ultimate with 33 inch muddies.
Can anyone who is knowledgeable on the current road closures etc. suggest an itinerary for such a trip.
If you relax at a faster pace you can get more relaxation in for a given time.

Graham
Thank you for the information. I was also hoping some kind soul would recommend a route for me as I don't know where I could take the camping trailer safely. I have been on some of the tracks in the Vic high country where it would be quite dangerous to take a trailer. I am happy to stop at a base camp and go on single day drives.

Howitt Road open to 4WD vehicles with care

West Kiewa Logging Road
Catherine River Bridge (Buffalo River valley) will be replaced in February 2011. Vehicles must cross the river via the ford adjacent to the work site. Please note that relatively small rainfall events may make the ford impassable.

Macs Creek Rd
Other closures

The top section of Riggall Spur Track between Echo Point Track and the junction with Gillios Track is closed until further notice.

Hi Sarah,
Thank you for the information. Can I safely take my camping trailer on these tracks. It has very high clearance.

Thank you Sarah,
Too much anti-freeze when I did not need it. I feel like a bone head.

Rod although your capable vehicle & trailer would make it over most of the High Country tracks in good weather conditions, I'm a fan of base camping when towing particually if going solo.
Best location central to many iconic destinations is Talbotville with day trips to Blue Rag Range, Dargo, Grant, Crooked river, Billy Goat Bluff & Wonnangatta. If you like exploring historic gold sites, river crossings & spectacular views it would be easy to spend a week around there. Plenty of hiking too. The tracks around this area are pretty much all open but worth checking the Parks site for any changes. I'd avoid the Craig's hut area (Mt Stirling) at the moment due to a stack of track closures & heaps of trees down.
Rooftop maps are the best for trip planning in the High Country.
Cheers Craig.................
