Hi All,

Long time lurker/first time poster, I'm looking for some suggestions for some family friendly camping locations.

If I was going for a weekender with bikes, boys and booze I know plenty of places but two-strokes at twenty paces at 3 in the morning is probably not ideal for the family.

Weekender from Melbourne is the plan and don't need power/shower but some water a 4 and 8 year old will enjoy and be safe would be ideal.

Appreciate any suggestions..

thanks

Speedie

Hi Speedy, I am not very familiar with Vic but I was reading a report one time about Bemm River which is between Cann River and Orbost. Probably a bit far for you guys but might be worth some research.

Lorne is another good spot at Erskine river caravan park and campground.
Got a little lagoon there and you can hire paddle boats for the kids and there is a short walk to the ocean beach if your a beach fishing type person. Nice protected park is Lorne. I was impressed in 06 when I was there and am planning onb returning this April to do the Great Ocean Road again. We Did like Lorne.

Cheers, Bruce

Done a few works trips up to Cann River/Orbost.. bit too far for a weekender but great country.

Have been looking at Cumberland River near Lorne and that seems pretty good but will check out Erskine River as well, sounds exactly what we are after

I have always found Tidal River to be a good spot for kids and there's quite a bit you can do to keep em occupied. Cheers

Yep second that. Just got back from a week there. Great spot with good amenities and not too crowded out of the school holiday periods. Other than that the Lerderderg and wombat state forest is good. O'Brien's crossing camp area may have a bit of water.

Hi Speedie

Erica or Rawson have some great spots, Caringal Scout Camp just out of
Erica has a river, nice flat grassy areas, fire bins, toilets and showers.
Cheers
