Mid August 2011 we are taking a tour to The Cape for 10 days, leaving and returning to
Cairns.
We would like any suggestions please of a good safe place to store our 4x4 and 15ft poptop caravan.
Thanks Julie

Hi, we were there last year and used Ellis Beach Caravan Park, north of
Cairns, stayed a couple of nights and had free van storage across the road for about 18 days, there are other options in that other van parks also look after your van , this suited us ,cheers

No Julie they are south and north of
Cairns CBD.
As stated by others van parks will store them but the numbers I gave you are lockups.

I stayed in the
Cairns coconut resort 2 years ago for a week. Saw quite a few vans that obviously hadn't moved for a while, and were being stored, parked in an area not frequented by the tourist trade but inside the security fence.Could be worth a call.

I think the majority of caravan parks will offer a storage area for the
Cape York trippers. Just email or ring them.
We stayed at Big 4 Coconut
Cairns and left the caravan there for 2 weeks whilst doing
Cape York in Aug 2010. They charge per vehicle - so car and caravan will be considered as 2 vehicles. It cost us $70 for 2 weeks. The storage area was a paddock at the rear of the resort - all within the security fences and boom
gate. Very easy to get in and out of and you can do it any time of day (we moved ours into the storage area at 5am). The spots are also long enough if you wish to stay hitched up.
Coconut
Cairns also have a free courtesy bus which takes patrons to 3 locations including centre of
Cairns - 3 times a day. With luck, one of these times might co-incide with your boat departure.
