G'day all
Well after 4 weeks in
Cairns I'm off
home to
Scone on Saturday.
While we have been up here we have been amazed at the lack of tourists.
No big crowds at any of the popular tourist spots.
Yet none of the
infrastructure up here was damaged during cyclone Yasi. It was good for us as we had plenty of room at everywhere we went.
On the Skyrail only 2 of us in a 6 person carriage. On the senic railway everyone had a window
seat.
It was the same everywhere we went, Not that many tourists.
I even went on a half day fishing and crabbing tour with only three other tourists. I have to recomend 'Fishinf and Crabbing Tours' Henry, the owner, was great it cost $89 for 4 hours and thoroughly enjoyable.
We really had a great time here and would urge people to consider the Cairns/
Port douglas and surounding areas when you are looking for a great holiday.

Hi Boo Boo,
It is good of you to put this info up for us. Hopefully the news will get out about where people can go in the region, spend some money, help the local economy and have a great time.

This time of year is the quiet time. Things change dramatically in the dry season.

Hey BooBoo,
Yeah I wouldn't stress too much, we were in the
Cairns area for a few months around November. The skyrail and train were pretty much the same, probably even emptier by the sound of it.
But yeah was great for us! I guess thats the bonus comming in the wetter season.
