Hi
I am having trouble with my Steca controller and wonder if anyone has had the same problem. I have 3 x 85w panels connected and 2 x 200ah batteries. I have nothing connected to the load wire as have found that I have trouble with my 12v fridge when connected to the load wire. I have connected my fridge direct to the batteries with 8 B & S twin wire and the fridge is working great. The problem I am having is that when the weather is hot as it has been in Perth for the last few weeks, the red light flashes and the screen shows load current.
This system was already fitted when I bought the caravan, so I'm not the full bottle on it. Can anyione tell me what is wrong.

All help will be appreciated.

I have used Stecca controllers before but am not sure what model you have. My only suggestion is to check that the negative side of the panels is not earthing to your caravan and in turn the battery. Whlilst most vehicles and appliances these days are negatively earthed, my Stecca controller was manufactured as positively earthed and malfunctioned when i effectively had a common negative earth between the battery and panel. Typically you would not notice until you had a really sunny day and the controller did a lot of shunting as the battery was fully charged.

I had to ensure there was no common circuit between the negative side of the panel and the negative side of the battery. I've since moved to another brand of regulator that is negatively earthed.
