Agree it is strange , have bigger ruts on our property and never had a problem
vehicle was serviced and thoroughly checked prior to leaving maybe just bad luck? there is a Pedders in town might enquire there first.

I wish to thank everyone who contributed there advise all was valuable, the parts breakdown was helpful in sourcing the problem Special thanks to Mark for putting me on to Greg Wallace arrived at 8.15am Mon at Toyota Dubbo and Greg got the mechanic on to it straight away by 10.30 am problem solved and on my way again.
Apparently, the previous owner must have had the steering rack removed at some stage, the left hand side of the steering rack is secured by two bolts the right hand side is secured by two nuts and bolts there are two large washers that WERE PUT ON THE HEADS OF THE BOLTS UNDERNEATH INSTEAD OF ON TOP UNDER THE NUTS, because the washers were underneath this allowed the cylinder to be pushed up off the rubbers and past the nut on top. so glad to be a member of E xplore OZ as members assistance is invaluable when stuck in an unfamiliar place.
