Does anyone know if it is possible to use 80series TD 95 model grey splitrims on a 2007or8 Hilux with 16 inch wheels or even with 15inch wheels . Stud pattern is 6 .. We are looking to change vehicle but need split rims for the hilux for special heavy duty tyres Thanks

They should fit but they may widen the track beyond legal limits. It all depends on the back spacing i.e. the distance from the inside edge of the rim back to the centre where they contact the hub.

I have some 03 Hilux split rims and 05 one piece steel rims. The 03 have a back spacing of 115 mm while the 05 are 135 mm. The 05 wheels on my 03 narrow the track by about 30 mm making them unsuitable even though they fit perfectly and clear everything. I maybe wrong but I think the 80 series wheels are a lot less than 115. If that is the case they will place the rims further out. Measuring them is the only way to be sure.

If you find they are not suitable then a custom wheel manufacturer should be able to move the centres easily. My 03 splits have the centres welded to a wide flat section in the centre of the rim. There is plenty of room to move them further in. I would imagine the 80 series are much the same.

The 80 series rims have a narrower track than the 60 series as I used 60 's on my 80 series offset is deeper on inside for 80, 60 is shallower the 80 series has round holes in rim 60 does not .
hope this helps cheers reggy2

Mate,

Not sure why you would bother. We had them on our old hi lux, they were nothing but trouble.

We had numerous flat tyres, they do not like water, inside rusts and chafes the tubes.

thanks for the replies

We use the rims for very thick crossply tyres for off track desert travel which we do periodically The tyres don't puncture like the usual on/off road tyre

You need split rims to get the tyres off normal rims you would need to be superman
