Hello,

Does any one know if Nurge Bars can affect the air bag operation of a 4x4. Vehicle is a Prado 120 series and the nudge bar is the type that bolts on and just covers the front grille with some minimal protection undernearth.

I can't see the need to replace the standard bumper with a steel bull bar based on how we currently use the car, its mostly city bound and all country trips are usually done during day light hours but some small amount of front protection might give me enough notice to stop before I pull the front bumber off while attempting a steep approach angle,

Cheers,

Dustin

I bought one last week for my new 4WD. Its a factory approved nudge bar (sold as an accessory) and therefore fully compatible with the air bags.
I did notice it somewhat lessens the approach angle of the vehicle which does not bother me.

If you get one approved to bolt onto your Prado it should comply.

I should point out that the "new 4WD" is NOT a troopie ;-)

You should be able to buy an " Airbag Compliant" bar off Toyota as in the type that fit Landcruisers. They come in airbag and non airbag versions.

The only thing I hate about these nudge bars is normally if you hit some one or some one hits yours eg reverses into it half the time the nudge bar will do more damage then if it wasnt there in the first place but they are handy for driving lights, airial. You can get them that come out through the bar and not come up from underneath reducing clearance. Check out ebay, coldys,ARB,TJM etc and have a look at the different types. They must have a tag on them saying if they are airbag compliant same as bullbar. Regards Steve
