Hello everyone,
I have a question for those that tow. A friend of ours is considering caravans and the couple they like are the Coromal 616 and the Jayco Sterling they are both family vans. I wondered if you could tow safely with a Nissan Murano.
Thanks for all your help these friends are new to buying a caravan I just don't want them to fall into the trap of having a van with a car that can't tow it.

Hi Andrea,
From a quick Google, I believe the short answer to be no, sorry 'bout that.
Information from
this link scroll done to the lower drop down menu and click on "capacities which gives the braked towing capacity at 3500 POUNDS or approximately 1590.9090 KILOGRAMS.
Further information from
the caravan forum scroll part way down the page to the post by Eric and Beryl where they indicate their 21 foot Jayco has a tare of 2000 kgs and an ATM of possibly nearer to 2700 kgs.
I hope you get to talk with your friends before they
shell out a lot of hard earned folding stuff.
Cheers,
Wayne & Sally.
PS. The caravan salesperson should be honest and indicate that the caravan is too big for the vehicle.
W&S.

Hi Andrea. I have a 2010 Sterling outback that I have taken to a weighbridge recently and had it weighed with all containers (water, gas and boot) full as if we were travelling. It came in at 2550kg. Your friends would be better looking at a Nissan Pathfinder or similar as the van size is perfect for touring in. Regards,Bob

Thank you Bob,
I would hate them to pay out for a caravan only to find they have to upgrade the car they are happy with to something else...I appreciate your help Bob and will be sure to pass the information on.
