We are looking to get a pair of car seat covers to protect the velour seats of our Patrol and found The Wet Seat and thought that this would be ideal for our needs. Tight fitting and waterproof. Not sure how wear resistent they are though.

Has anyone used this type of car seat cover and have any opinion on its suitability?

We will be doing a fair bit of offroad touring in the next 6 months - desert and beach driving including a fair bit of fishing. So I expect that we will be getting dusty, sweaty and spread fish smells all over the seatss.

Got a pair of Wet Seat front seat covers from TJM approx 9 months ago - have given them a fair flogging (including a 3 month camping trip) and they have been great. Did have a fault with drivers side cover (neoprene tore on the 'underside') - took it back to TJM with receipt and replaced under warranty with no hassles. I'm also a kiteboarding tragic and so am at the beach all the time - so far so good!
Took them off recently to wash and they came up looking like new. Fixed the small tear in the neoprene on the 'underside'with good quality silicone - now good as new and unable to detect from the 'top' side so I have a spare cover if /when needed!!

Cheers

I think you would do a lot better if you got a normal set of seat covers and a good dri-aza-bone.

That's what we did and after several years the seats do not show any adverse damage at all. Even though I have been wet through a few times. Another reason to just get a good set and not worry about a special set.

You don't get wet that often anyway. Even when I "lived" surf I was dry into the car on all but a few occasions in several years chasing the "endless summer".

My thoughts.

Thanks Phil - we are thinking of protection not just from water, but from dirt, sand, sweat etc.

In FNQ it's always wet lately, that means getting into the car in wet clothes is a regular occurrence. Might have a look at some when next at a TJM store.

G'day,

I also have a pair from TJM, I think they are great. We are going to get one for the rear seat as well.

Cheers

We also have a pair of Wet Seat covers and they do the job well. Have also been thinking about getting some for the back seat.

Thanks guys for your responses.

With the cut-out on the side to allow for cars with side air bags, do you find that when you slide into your seat that you are pulling away the covers from the seat?

Has never happened with mine - very snug, non slip fit - the neoprene sort of sticks (in a nice way) to the seat

Never been a problem in the Triton with side bags.

Take great care to place the opening correctly or your side air bags won't do much for you.
