Gunbarrel

Considering towing our Kedron from Wiluna along the Gunbarrel to the Heather & down to the central road & East from there.Does anyone know how wide & how overgrown this part of the Gunbarrel is?Don't care how slow we have to go but have to be able to fit.Hope to leave about easter but all this will depend on the rain.
Cheers Danny

With a Kedron..no problem. Good road up to Carnegie stn. After that gets a bit corrugated in sections and there cfdould be ruts if it has been raining, Check with carnegie Stn. Once your on the Great central road, no problem all the way to Uluru. A bit stony and sandy in places but no real problem. Cheers

From memory, there are a few short sharp stoney creek crossings that you may get hung up on. There was one at Len Beadell's theodolite.

Corrugations on the Gunbarrel are the worst I have ever experienced. August last year, it took us 8 hours to travel 60km.

Gidday

Have a search through the member blogs for a report by Navigator 1 (NSW) of his trip on the Gunbarrel last October. I can feel the shakes coming on just looking at his pics of the corrugations.

Cheers

Unless you wish to wreck your Kedron then go ahead, cant believe Dan you would even think of it, from memory the Heather Highway had after the Gunbarrel the worst corrugations i have ever seen, there are on the Gunbarrel in places three to four side tracks to try and overcome the corrugations, these side tracks are also badly corrugated.

There is a bit of info here on a couple that did it with a bushtracker.

I was out there last year and the corrugations were bad, very bad.

Good road heading East to Mt Nossiter, then turns a little nasty.

Drop your tyre pressures down, all rouond, and just take your time, you should do it fine.
Is there another vehicle travelling with you ?
Just in case !
