hi, Can anyone help me, I have a 2004 Jayco Dove and have just noticed the centre of the roof has a dip in it, maybe caused by the extreme heat we are having here in WA, is it possible to repair it myself. has anyone experienced this problem. thanks Mel.

Maybe someone climbed on top of it! but anyway if it's only a aluminium roof then maybe you can remove one of the ceiling light fittings and then start up your garden blower and fill the ceiling space with low pressure high volume air.

That should pop the roof ding out! wether it stays that way is another thing but I wouldn't leave it stay like that for to long as it might get use to the position and collapse every time it rains or something.

Cheers

G'day Indy
How would you go using a suction cup to pull up the roof. Something like a they use for lifting glass maybe. Once its up, pop rivet and sikaflex a stiffener across the roof.

Gday Mel, Mark from Ballina, got Jayco Dove OB 2005, same roof i think, dont think the heat would pop it, sounds like something or someone got on top, (Kids next door playing cricket maybe.. or drop bears)... any way depending on size of dent, small one... as suggested drill 3/8 hole from under side but use flat end rod to gently push up dent, cant blow these up they are foam filled,...larger dent and/or sikaflex (urethane) bit of 2x1 pine to roof use this to pull flat then use turps to dissolve, cant use suction cup coz roof panel is dimpled....PS check sealant to joiner strips, they may be now leaking(or could be cause). Hope this helps

try asking the same questions here:

jayco owners forum

caravaners forum

RV-supertramp forum

plus there are many other forums to try (eg: campertrailers.org - i think thats right?)

I would guess that popping it back into shape will not solve your problem. You need to work out what is causing it to happen. There is every chance you have some form of rot or broken timbers or separation somewhere in the roof which results in reduced strenhgth and support to the whole roof structure. This may require you to remove top completely (sounds scary but not too bad for someone with patience) and rebuild as someone did on here:

repair of jayco camper trailer roof

Read the full article - 2 pages. Best of luck and remember google is your friend, just keep trying till you get your answer ....
