Does anyone know of an insurance company who covers for contents insurance while you are travelling? We do not have a caravan or camper trailer but are travelling in a tent for now? We have sold our house and belongings. Everything we own we are travelling with!

I think you will find it very hard to get cover for items kept under canvas.

Hi Oztours

TCIS is an insurance broker specialising in 4WD related insurance and I understand they provide insurance on camping equipment. You might want to contact them direct as they are probably best equipped to answer your specific questions or will know if it is possible to get the insurance cover you are looking for.

Hi, When we go away with the camper. or just the 4x4 and tent it, we just ring our house insurance and they add the fridge , gps's , cb's, PC , phones and camping gear. and they issue us with a revised policy and we cancell it when we return and you only pay the bit extra on you policy for the month we are away, I think it was $7.00 for a month for $5.000 extra's.
We are with SGIC in SA. we have done this for the last 3 years ,
Cheers Des.

If you read the OP carefully you will see he does NOT own a house and therefore cannot do as you say.

You have to own a house to have contents insurance as you describe.

If the other suggestions fail, get a Broker to look for you. They have the knowledge, the buying power, and the ability to get custom policy rather than the off-the-shelf ones that an individual can purchase. They will also work for you if you have a claim, when insurers are looking for a way out.

Enter the world of the itinerant, where most things in life require a static address; insurances, licences etc.

TCIS will provide Camping Insurance to ACTIVE Members of a 4WD Club. The 4WD Club has to be registered with it's State Association, which in turn is a member of Four Wheel Drive Australia.http://www.anfwdc.asn.au/index.php.
The Victorian 4WD Association may run a similar separate Insurance Scheme
Basically if you are an ACTIVE member of a REGISTERED CLUB & you have vehicle insurance through TCIS you can get Camping & other insurance policies.
