Hi Norm,

I went to the rocks in 2007. I past the turnoff in 2010 and I didn't see any activity at the range.

Windarling Mine is definitely operating. Don't go too far south of the rocks, I did and got caught up in the maze of the surrounding mine tracks.

Cheers
Alan

Looking for adventure.
In whatever comes our way.

As Alan says mining of Windarling Range 10ks south of Pigeon and that should be all.

The Die hardy is an A Class Reserve so there shouldn't be mining activity at it. If you persevre and follow the track on the west side of the range you could discover Faye Bluff.

About halfway through the gap (Bullfinch Evanston Road) there's a track on the eastern side that takes you to the old Mt Geraldine mine site from where you can see the scare on the landscape of Windarling mine.

From Pigeon Rock a 14ks dead straight western run to the old Clampton mine.

Ya could come across old Tony (great bloke) of Diemals Station. He love a cuppa and a chat so have the billy on and be prepared to lose a few hours.

Enjoy you trip. I'm going to be out in the region for a couple of weeks from easter.

G'Day Rod
Trip was fantastic Pigeon Rock looks great with all
the green around. The track in was a good drive
had a bit of every thing Smooth Corrugations and Rock.
Spent quite a bit of time looking for Faye Bluff but failed to find it.
Although looking at the GPS track on Google I wasn't far from it.
Some of those tracks don't look like they've been used for
quite awhile. It was awkward trying to find where I wanted
to be because all I could see was the Bushes pressed against
the windows. But it was all part of the adventure, and now I have
a better idea of where to head next time I get out there.
I might see if I can get a GPS Position for the bluff.
Went home via Clampton , Mount Jackson and the Baladjie Nature Reserve
Looking forward to get back there again
Thanks for the enquiry
Norm

Yes the bushes like making love to your vehicle out in that neck of the woods.

You can see Faye Bluff from the top of Pigeon Rock, looking east to the Die Hardy Range ridge line and then there's a sudden shear face drop which is the bluff. You can also see it from the old Mt Geraldine mine site, which is part of the Die Hardy range, just by looking back up the range with the Bluff sitting there in all its proud glory.
