I wish to have a Next G antenae on a caravan that is removable for when travelling.
The antenae lead I have is fitted with the standard fme male connector for joining to a patch lead. Ideally I would like to be able to fit this connector into its female fme mate on a wall plate of some kind so it is easily attached / detached alomg the lines of a
satellite TV fitting that is common a wall plate of caravans.
Obviously I need a lead for between the phone/ intenet device fitted with the male fme and the other end requirs the female fme onto the outside of the 'van wall......but what is there that gives a solid connection as I dont want a floopy end hanging out of the wall to the outside?.
The same applies to the UHF antenae.......some form of solid fitting suitable to adapt to a wall plate of some kind that allows the PL259 from the antenae to join into the lead from the radio coming from inside the 'van to the poutside wall
The more I google the more confused I get simply because I cant work out what these fittings may be called
thanks if you can help me

Look up a Jaycar catalogue and it may be there.
You could always buy the through the wall TV unit that allows you to pass a cable through it without connectors.
Cant remember its name but would do the job.

BG,
when are you getting your van?
If you like, depending on when it is in your hands, I can help with quite a few different fittings and a crimping tool.
If you're up here or we can take a run to Harvey.
This is the "through the wall" device mentioned earlier:

These are available in Mandurah. I've got a spare one too. These avoid a connection which is a good thing.
If you are going to put it through the wall, make sure you get some construction photos of your van BEFORE the external cladding goes on so you know where the van's wiring is.
Keep in touch.
