Once again heavy rain has fallen in QLD. Bedourie in western QLD has had 315mm of rain in the last 24 hrs, this is crazy weather so good luck to all who are out there or like myself trying too plan a trip out to the Simpson this year. Cheers Mick

The Cooper Creek and Eyre Creeks are rising fast as well.

Only a small amount of water flowing again here in the Condamine river at Chinchilla.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev, After all the rain we have been getting I was pretty keen to go somewhere dry like a desert or something. I remember someone on this site suggesting that Birdsville could be the next fruit bowl of Australia!! maybe with all this water about we could grow cotton or rice out there. Cheers Mick

Michael, if you really want to see dry just come to Perth. They say we have had 37 mm but nobody really knows where.

Hi Brian Purdue, we live in the Hills and had a quick fire 28ml in about 15mins, but don't know where it went, it's all gone now of course.

Tis sad indeed to have a superflous amount of precipitation but the alternative of drought is not in any way attractive. Excess amounts of rain will soak into the earth and produce food, flowers and wildlife in profusion.
Lack of rain means no surface water in the billabongs to admire on our perigrinations, no wildlife and no growth. Man has not yet learned how to control the weather and until then more rain and less drought please.

Unbelievable I was just looking at rainfalls around that area on the Elders weather site and they were showing none (probably a update problem) I switch to this forum and all the info is here thanks Mick Trying to plan a Simpson trip also but it looks like plan B.

Cheers,
Graham

Thanks Kev,
Can't believe that since about 92 we have been praying for rain now it won't stop. Don't tell my Farmer mates we want the rain to stop so we can go 4wding.

Cheers

Hi Mick

But being a good Boy Scout, you should have plans, b,c and d in place just in case.

Yes the deserts are copping a fair deluge. After last year and all that mud out in the Simpson, you would want to think twice if it is still wet. Like last year, Eyre Creek could be the big hurdle for some time.

There are still many great locations to choose from for the other options.

All the best with your planning.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Up here in QLD we only have 26 letters in the alphabet.

Mike.

Hi Steve, I am not giving up that easy. We would like to see Lake Eyre via Cameron Corner then on to Uluru and Kings Canyon. From there we can make a decision whether we go home via the Simpson or via the Plenty, still lots to see and do out there. Cheers Mick

yeeeeees.... i did warn ya's, it is the same "system" that hammered us, Mornington Isl had 499mm in 24h and it looks like it is forming again so it will not be the end of it i am afraid ......
It will cause some "problems" but it is awsome rains in places that will benifit it for many years down the track, if is was dry we would be praying for it so i guess we are "lucky" ...
Cheers and enjoy it "safely" ...
Joe

How does the saying go. If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We're just waiting to see where all this water ends up & what the flows are in each of the rivers as I'd love to do another desert boat trip, particually down the Kallakoopkah creek then accross Lake Eyre. Still plenty more needed to fall to make that happen though.
Cheers Craig............
