I recently purchased the 2008 natmap dvd's and could not load them into my computer which uses windows7.Geoscience advised that there were difficulties with the dvd and windows7 and suggested various fixes none of which worked. The reseller from whom we purchased the DVD offered assistance but this wasn't honoured.
I wanted to use the maps with Oziexplorer.
Has anyone else experienced the same problems? If so how did solve they solve the problem?
I will go anywhere as long as it's forward

G'day John Y

Had the same problem, I think.

Loading the whole dvd was my problem. There is a conflict between Win7 and the Natmap viewer. Same as you, I use Oziexplorer, and didnt need the map viewer that comes with the maps. I just loaded the maps and not the viewer.

There was a thread on here fairly recently with detail of the problem and a few hints on how to fix things, I can't remember step by step what I did, but that was the problem, the Natmap Viewer, so if you can do without loading that, it should be fine.

Cheers and good luck

Dave.

P.S. Running fine with Oziexplorer on my laptop at the moment.

Hi John

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. It can be very frustrating and much cursing. I can offer no help as I had no problems when I recently upgrade one computer to Windows 7. Everything is working fine with my new installation, but there will be others that will come to your aid.

Hang in there and do not give up hope, as it does work on Windows 7.

For the record, I am also using the Natmap 2008 as well.

Cheers

Stephen

John,

unfortunately I can't assist you with your problem but would also suggest having a look at the forums on this site.

A great source of info.

If you can open the DVD without actually running the install program then copy the fioles to your PC and run them under Ozi from there.

Do you have the 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 running? Cause I found some issues with that and some of my fav programs

Hi Bonz

From what I have been told and if you wish to use older programmes developed prior to Windows 7, you must configure the initial set up to 32 bit and not 64.

Hi Bonz

It is a very easy process to re set up your computer to 32 bit. First make sure that you have backed up everything, as the new set up process will set your computer to out of the box specifications and erase everything on the hard drive.

While pressing the power button, continualy press the 'O' (o for Oscar and not the number 0) on the keyboard. Once the unit boots up, there will be a message asking you if you want the set the computer to out of the box specs. In a nut shell it will wipe the hard drive and go back to the original set up page, eg what country are you registering it in etc. This process can take anything up to an hour, but once you are back to the set up stage, select the 32 bit which is usually the first and highlighted option.

Once at this stage it will then usually be less than 5 minutes and you will be back up and running and ready to re install you programmes.

Cheers

Hi Steve, this PC doesnt have out of the box specs, or a partition with that info in it, as it was built from parts. And had XP installed originally so I have to load via the CD's and its a matter of havng the time and the inclination to do so mate.

Wish it was as easy as you reckon, but the program install and setup is painful

Thanx for the note though

Hi John,

Have you downloaded and installed the map calibrations files from Oziexplorer ? I'm not sure whether they come with the DVD or not.

Cheers
Alan

The NATMAP 2008 comprises 2 DVD's.

ON DVD1, Using Windows Explorer find the file 250k.ecw.
The path is- (NATMAP-DVD1)/MAPS/250K-Mosaic/NATMAP-DVD1/

Copy that file (250k.ecw.) to your Maps sub-directory within your OziExplorer directory or to wherever you store your map images. Its a big file about 2,963,430KB

Open OziExplorer ;
In Oziexplorer in the File drop down menu, select Import Map and then select ECW Maps (UTM or Lat/Lon based only) and follow the instructions such as identifying where you stored the 250k ecw file you copied over . This will import the ecw file and create the accompanying .map file. You should have the 250k available for loading onto Ozi as you would load any other map.
