No luck with thread search, so does anyone know if the wireless reversing camera kits are worthwhile or should I stick with the hard wired ones.
I have the hard wired one now on my Patrol and also camera on the caravan, but the system seems to have packed it in.
Just before it gave up the ghost the camera view was very blurry and milky looking.
The system is about 4 years old and only comes with 1 year warranty, so time to replace, but which system is my question?
Cheers Ray

hi poppy
i bought my hard wired rev /cam from precision vision nsw and it is failing purchased 7/6/2007 maybe the same system
5'' tft-lcd colour monitor
5mtrs of cable
bracket mounted camera -circular
model -cw134071c1 mr 2.8
pal.dc 12v 260ma
despite trying to clean every component and it is identical to the one that d/b is selling afaic see
mine has failed pixels at the top and has gone blurry too very disapointing as it wasn't cheap $459.00
mine has always been inside the car interior so has never had water on it and hasn't been in any direct sunlight either
imho opinion just cheap over priced chinese rubbish and like yours 12 months warranty so far my screen is ok as i made a special heat insulated cover for it so when i stop the monitor gets covered
the camera is my problem like you not sure what to get
but know the wireless ones are not worth buying
cheers barry

Barry
Have to
check actual details of
mine, but sounds very similar.
Might give Derek from ABR a call to see if they could
check it out

i was told how to extend the "antenna" on the wireless units, that way you can bring it forward and clear any metals that drown the signal ... or at least place it in a better position for the signal to transmit...
I never ended up doing it but you have,
well on
mine anyway, the wires from the reversing lights that power it up and the antenna is wrapped in them in the first meter of cables from the camera, you cut off the OUTER plastic covering and seperate the power wires from the antenna, dont strip the wires to the metals, you need a legnth of coax the same diameter as the lead to the antenna for as long as you need it and basically cut the coax just after the camera and add in the coax using solder, very steady hand and heat shrink taking care not to short the wire braid sheilding to the core wire ....... also make certain it is not the actual antenna you are cutting as you cant extend the length of it, it will burn out the transmitter of the camera .............. i think the "antenna" section was about a foot long from memory ......
Worth a try if you cant get a good signal as your other option is to ditch it ..
Cheers
Joe
(it was the "tech" in Melb for "Navi-gator" that told me that)
