To any owners of D40 2.5 diesel Navaras. Our 2010 model has now done about 22,000 ks and we are still only getting around 12.5 l/100kms at best with steady driving, no load. The local dealer keeps telling me that is no problem but I am sure that is excessive. Any
feedback either way would be most welcome.

Hi Hutch. That model Navara is on my "maybe" list, but I'm not happy with the fuel use figures for a 2.5l engine. Obviously it will be higher if you tow something heavy. Nissan has gone into traditional denial territory. Good luck in getting a reaction from them. Cheers, Tony

Hi bibtracker. You are certainly right about nissan in denial. We are heading off soon with 2.5t van. Navara certainly pulls it
well but the thirst is a concern. I will be seeing dealer again next week and will be making lots of noise (probably to no avail) More annoyed that we were misled by their advertising before we bought it. Cheers

We have an auto, 2008 model. Fuel consumption is around 20l per 100 kms when towing our 21/2 tonne van so we visit fuel stations pretty often. lol
Unladen it is close to the figure you have mentioned, sometimes a little less.
regards,
Heather

Gidday
Have you got a manual or automatic? I remember when I first started researching dual cab utes about three years ago on this and other sites there were quite a few unhappy auto Navara owners about. Figures like yours seemed typical for automatics as I recall. Manuals were better.
Cheers

Wow that does seem around 20% higher than claimed? My Hilux is avergaing 10.3/100 Combined city cycle, no load. (Auto 2006 3.0L TD Dual Cab). Sometimes those engines don't seem to really loosen up until 60,000kms, my mate has the older Navara with the 2.5 and he gets 600Kms to a tank laden with tools, roof racks and other sparky equipment.

I have a 2007 Navara D40 2.5 Diesel 6 Speed Manual with canopy and tow approx 1.5T Camper. Over 35000 Km on clock
I average 12.5 L/100Km Towing and 10.4L/100Km Highway (medium load, not towing)
Consumption doesn't vary much driving around metro area of
Melbourne
I generally try to keep to 100kph on highway because any quicker tends to increase consumption markedly. ie: sat on 110kph from
Melbourne to Wodonga and returned 14.0L/100 Km towing
My mate has a new 2011 Navara D40 (140Kw) Auto with canopy and claims he's getting approx 9 - 10L/100 km on highway sitting on 100kph
Hope this helps
Cheers
Paul

My wife's Honda Jazz gets 4.8L/100km around town.
No relevance though as it's not comparing apples with apples, much like your comparison.

Hi, have 2010 Navara D40 2.5 auto and get around 11.5 on the highway. Recently had Steinbauer chip installed. Extremely happy with performance and driveability. 15K on the odometer but still waiting on new Crusader to be built, so no towing figures yet.

D40 Auto 2008, 13l/100 city, 9.5 medium load
Adelaide to
Hay, 17.5 - 21 Towing 2.6tone 23ft van
Its the DPF that does the damage.
Nice clean exhaust at a cost to meet European fuel emission standards I'm told.
Be interesting to see what new 550 will do.

Hi all and thanks for great
feedback. FYI our navara is 2010 D40 ST 6 speed manual, no DPF and fitted with canopy and long range fuel tank (which at this stage is a necessity) I think a vocal winge to Nissan is in order but from some of your replies the fuel consumption figures vary a great deal. Will let you know how we get on.

Go the mighty 4.2 TD Partol
Now achieving 6.5 km/lt towing, and 7.8 km/lt standard
I don't really feel so bad !
