I am having trouble trying to decided on which type of bullbar to fit. I want to fit a 12,000lb winch so believe the Genuine and ARB bars are only rated to 9,500lb winches so therefore have to go for the commercial type in ARB. I have read that the commercial bars don't look as good. Is this true??

TJM's T13 steel bullbar are rated for 12,000lb winch's. I have read that these bars are now made overseas compared to ARB in Australia.

Anyone have a opposite lock bullbar? Also rated at 12,000lb winch but know nothing about them.

I will also be fitting side bars and steps. Out of the three, are there any that stand out from the rest?? I want the bullbar to look nice, don't want to have it look like it's not part of the vehicle!

Any views, pictures on these would be great.

Hi John,

The standard Delux ARB Winch Bullbar is rated to 12000 lbs, so you shouldn't have to go commercial.

Looks good to. All I need on mine now is a winch :)) ARB side steps are Ok too.

Cheers
Alan

PS - I am in no way recommending ARB for other products that they sell, only their "bar" type products.

Hi Allan. Thanks for the reply. After your message i had to double check the ARB bullbars on the net. I was just at the Adelaide caravan show at the ARB stand and they were the ones who told me the standard bars are only rated to 9500lb. If you want to fit a 12000lb winch, you have to go a commercial bar. Their web site just backed that up. Bit of a shame really, as I would like to go a deluxe bar. Before you buy your winch, just keep that in mind. Cheers. John

Hi John,

I should have checked my info more carefully and been more specific sorry - my catalog says 12000lbs only up to 2007 models, mines a 2006. (part 3412130) don't have post 2007 info.

Cheers
Alan

John,

Can't help you with the 12000lb winch but i have an ARB steel bullbar on my rig with a warn 9.5lb. This has got me out of some tough spots and may be worth considering?

Thanks will. The reason i am looking at 12000lb is because we will be towing 3.5t of offroad caravan behind us. I think i was reccomended 12000lb by TJM because of that reason. Cheers

John P,

Save your self a bit of trouble and go for 9500lb unit. Then use a couple of snatch blocks and if you need them some extension straps. I've only used a Tirfor in all situations and that's only rated to 2,500 kg (5500lb) single line. Use snatch blocks and you get more purchase.

Only my opinion.

Cheers,

Tim.

John we are going to a M12000 Warn winch for the same reason and yes you can fit a 12000 pounder to a ARB deluxe bar.

Our Warn 9500 has worked over time winching the vehicle and camper both at the same time so this time we are going bigger.

Tim why is it so much trouble fitting a 12000 pound winch and easier to use a couple of snatch blocks with a 9500 pounder..... there is no substitute for power and for ease a single anchoring point!

Me think a 12000 pound winch and no snatch blocks would be easier....

olcoolone, Thanks for ya reply. I am gonna buy a 76series landcruiser and all the info i have and people i have spoken to have said ARB deluxe bar for this is only rated at 9500lb. I am sure you could proberly fit a 12000lb winch to it, but i would hate to see what happens to it if putting 12000lbs of pressure on it when only rated at 9500lb! You may have an earlier model pre 2007 i think it said in one of my replys which apparently can take a 12000lb winch. I am with you on your theory. Have the right winch to do the right job in the first place! Cheers....

There was concerns about the weight of the winch and strength of the bar attached to the vehicle.

We are in the mists of taking delivery of a 200 series and ARB would only allow 9500 pounders however there engineers approved the fitment of the M12000 to the bar and vehicle, this only became avaliable about 6 weeks ago.

There was some initial concerns about weigh and strength.

200 series may be different, we are dealing with ARB at Regency Park in SA.... might pay to give them a call.

John.
May not be relevant today, but when I bought my winch bar in '93 the TJM had the best design/appearance of what was available. (75 series cab/chassis)

Neat installation for the low mount 9500lb. winch which pulls some massive loads using a snatch block and extra cable.
I think this size winch would handle all your needs.
