Terrible earthquake in Japan

Japan has been hit by the strongest quake since records began 140 years. The destruction and loss of life has been made far worse by the Tsunami which was up to 10 metres high.

I was amazed how quickly the Japanese auto industry recovered from the Kobe earthquake 15 years ago.

I suspect this one will have a much greater impact on auto exports from Japan, that Australians are heavily dependant on.

Before any cars start to be exported again, all the industries that support the car makers will need to recover e.g. steel production. Then they will need to replace the cars that have been destroyed - the footage of cars, boats and houses being washed away show the totality of the destruction.

Income from exports will be essential to help the country rebuild.
