Looking to travel across in May/June. 2002 GU Patrol 4.8 LPG/Petrol towing 20ft caravan, I average 30 litres per 100 towing at 90km/hr....
Any advice, LPG price and availability etc?

Been across twice and had no problems. Left Kalgoorlie with a tank of petrol and the same petrol was still in the tank when I returned.

We crossed two years ago in company with a gas/petrol Fairlaine towing an 18ft Jayco pop top. They had no problem and from memory did not have to use petrol as there is gas at most roadhouses. Just be aware that the percentage increase in gas price is much greater than petrol/diesel due to the higher cost of transporting it. We were towing a similar sized van behind a V6 petrol Commodore. My petrol costs were about the same as his gas costs on the remote legs.

I agree with that observation. It costs about the same to run on either due to the incresed cost of the gas, much higher than the petrol increase. Mike

You can go all the way on gas(provided the pumps were working) but you would have to stop at every second servo.
I did it in January 2010 and gas was around 98c/L. ULP was 155c/L (from memory). I have paid $1.20/L for gas on a previous trip across, it ended up costing almost as much as running on ULP due to the increased consumption on gas.
Biggest distance between servos is about 190km. NullaborNet.com.au has all the info you need, as does this site in the
Treks section.
