We are looking at generators around 2.4kva. The Honda 20i is too small for our air con, a friend bought to my attention a generator called voltmax which was mentioned in west Australian newspaper (the show is in WA next week) does anyone know anything about this make or maybe has/used one.

Just make sure that it is a rectified (full sine wave) genny, otherwise you will destroy all you come in contact with.

Doesn't "rectified" imply its output is DC?

The output from a Sine Wave Generator is definitely NOT rectified.

You really know how to confuse people who are having enough trouble coping with technical jargon, don't you !!!

Not trying to confuse, just correcting a non fact.

Lot of people believe the Honda 20i is the best thing since sliced bread , pity , seems honda should actually rebadge the unit to what it actually is , that being 1600watts.

Just had to replace my yamaha 2400 after 5 years. The inverter decided it had had enough. $1200 for a new inverter + installation. Decided it was not worth fixing. Bought a honda 20i instead. Hopefully have better luck with this one.
Only used the yamaha for 3-4 weeks a year during that 5 year period. The honda runs our heron q air conditioner in our caravan with no problems.
Pretty dissapointed in the yamaha only lasting 5 years. Had no other issues with it prior to inverter sh*&ing itself.

WE have had a KIPOR 2600 for about 5 years and it has never missed a beat. It's nominal rating (real world) is 2300watts and drives everything in our van without any problems.
Cheers
