I have a small Toshiba Netbook and Ozi works fine on that, but I found the map on the screen covers too small an area, so I have bought a larger Toshiba laptop.
I have checked that the CONFIGURATION set up in both computers is the same (except for the PORTS), but I cannot get MOVING MAP to work at all on the new large one.
I have run the USB mouse driver installation and that made no difference.
There is 3
places where you can adjust the baud rate in CONFIGURATIONS - these are all set at 4800.
I adjusted the PORT numbers until I stopped getting messages that it was not connecting (or words to that effect)
I am off to Victoria for two weeks gold detecting tomorrow, so I would like to get it running before I go.
Any ideas how to get it going ?
Thanks a lot,
Willie

Hi Willie
I only ever use a baud rate of 4800 when I am using a GPS mouse. When I use a Garmin hand held GPS, the baud rate is 9600. If you can not find what is the correct com port, you can down load a com port checker from OziExplorer.
To do so, follow the following and you will be able to then set the rest of the configuration up correctly:
1. Log on to www.oziexplorer.com
2. Click on "Optional Extras"
3. Then click on Utilities and Extras.
4. Scroll down and click on the "GPS Port Checker"
5. Download the programme and run with the GPS connected to the laptop.
This will then tell you the correct Com Port to use for the type of GPS that you have connected.
I hope this helps you out.
All the best of luck and things should work fine.
Cheers
Stephen

It sounds to me as though you dont have the latest version of Ozi - from memory the last 2 updates come with a " Find GPS" function as part of the programme
Can I suggest you update to the latest version off the Ozi website and use the "Find GPS" button - it will tell you which comm port to use and the correct baud rate etc

KA,
I purchased and downloaded the latest version for the new Laptop last night.
How do I find that on there, or does it find the correct port automatically ?
Thanks,
Willie.

Thanks,
Willie.

Hey Bonz,
I failed to get it working before I set off for 10 days gold detecting at
Castlemaine in the Golden Triangle.
I got back last night and am now checking emails. My plan is to ring GPS OZ and arrange for them to sort it out for a price.
I let my EO
membership lapse.
Cheers,
Willie
