John & Anne, any of the old railway sidings are ok, plus Arbuchinna (spelling) Rail
bridge, all weather permitting of course.

We went along the track last August with a landcruiser and large dirt road van.
It was a pretty easy drive - until it bucketed down when we were stopped for the night at Algerbuckina
Bridge. The road just turned to mud and the water came up about a metre on the causeway. And the gully you need to cross if you want to
camp beside the
bridge turned into a river.
We were lucky there was another way across the gully and we ended up taking the van back across to the track the next day after the water went down a bit - we didn't want to get stuck near the
bridge if it rained again.
Another couple with a cruiser and trakvan were camped at the
waterhole the night it rained and had a hard time just getting back to the track.
We had a nice four day stay until it dried out enough to get through to
Oodnadatta.
It's a good drive - just watch the weather.
regards
John

G'Day
John & Anne R, Plan to go
home from
Darwin down thru the centre, over the
Oodnadatta track area up thru
Birdsville to central Qld with 200 series and Dirt road Sunland van late July if the weather dries the tracks enough. Wanted to the
Darling river run mid April/May but methinks the roads will still be closed. Fingers crossed for a dry winter.
Cheers,
