As the topic suggests I am after some recommendations for an overnight stop along the Great Ocean Road. Somewhere in the vicinity of Apollo Bay and we are traveling with our dog.
Thanks in advance,
Michelle

Johanna beach is an excellent spot large grassed areas and toilets, with a stunning beach.

Magnificent place alright but watch the beach if swimming. It can be treacherous to the unwary. A regular to the area and can highly reccomend it. It's also very full on holiday periods and long weekends.

Cheers Mick

Hi flashcher,
There is Red Johanna Beach & Blue Johanna beach. Both are very risky for swimming and one of them including Moonlight heads is bad for sharks.Apollo Bay is lovely.Wye River, The Blanket bay campground, is good.
Take care, safe travels .
Bye, Ma

We have just returned from the GOR 2weeks ago.
We called into the Wye River Caravan Park and declined to pay the $44/night fee. We weren't aware of and camp areas but we found a little track on the Eastern side of Wye River(only about a kilometer from the bridge and wound our way up this dirt track. There are three good free camping areas up there. No facilities but that's fine with us. In the morning, instead of returning down the mountain and back onto the tar, we followed the road around and came into Lorne on the Erskin Falls Rd. I have to say that this track(s) is one of the prettiest drives that I have done. It was a really pleasant surprise.

Thanks for the reply Dasher Des. It would be great to own a caravan park along the GOR - would be a millionaire in no time.
