My 1980 coaster has a very elusive vin no..................any tips as to where it is would be appreciated

Have you looked behind the front drivers side wheel on the chassis?

Being of that age and technically a commercially vehicle does it actually have a VIN?. Some vehicles of that era may not have one allocated in which case the chassis number is used.
